Summary:
The Department of Energy National Energy Technology Laboratory, on behalf of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's Building Technologies Program, is seeking applications for the development of innovative technologies and approaches that have the potential to yield significant energy savings in residential and commercial buildings. The projects sought will advance the development, or adoption, of energy-efficient equipment, envelope, and whole-building technologies. The objective is to accelerate high-payoff technologies and approaches that, because of their risk, are unlikely to be developed in a timely manner without a partnership between industry and the federal government.
This announcement contains four areas of interest:
- Windows research and development, focusing on the next generation of high-efficiency fenestration products
- Increased penetration of energy-efficient windows in today's marketplace
- Integrated systems approach to the development of more energy-efficient technologies, production methods, and design approaches applicable to the industrialized housing industry
- Advancement of the EnergyPlus design analysis tool and coordination of others' efforts in this area.
