Summary:
This financial assistance is in support of an Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy goal to increase the energy efficiency of industry. Part of EERE’s Industrial Technology Program strategy in support of this goal is to support high-risk, high-reward research and development to reduce energy intensity in U.S. industrial manufacturing and processing by working with industry partners.
The competitiveness of our most energy-intensive industries is particularly sensitive to energy prices. Advanced energy-efficiency technologies reduce the effects of price swings on industry and thereby increase their economic competitiveness in global markets. The projects to be selected under this funding opportunity announcement will focus on development of materials or materials processing methods for energy-efficient industrial processing. Applications are sought for the following research priority areas:
- Materials for degradation resistance
- Materials for energy systems
- Materials for separations.
