Summary:
The Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory, on behalf of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’s Building Technologies Program, is seeking applications for applied research in the Solid-State Lighting (SSL) Core Technologies Program. DOE has set aggressive and ambitious goals for SSL research and development. One of its goals is to develop, by 2025, advanced SSL technologies that, compared with conventional lighting technologies, are more energy-efficient, longer-lasting, and cost-competitive.
The objective of this announcement is to support applied research in the following key technical areas to overcome technical challenges that restrict the application of SSL today:
- LED high-efficiency semiconductor materials
- LED device approaches, structures, and systems
- OLED materials
- OLED packaging, encapsulation, and fabrication.
