The Handbook of Best Practices for Geothermal Drilling , funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Geothermal Technologies Program and prepared by Sandia National Laboratories, focuses on the complex process of drilling a geothermal well. Detailed chapters cover various aspects of the drilling process including the techniques and hardware that has proven successful in for both direct use and electricity generation reservoirs around the world. The Handbook will be updated periodically as new methods are demonstrated or proven.
