President Obama visits Geothermal Technologies Program Partner
May 2, 2011
President Obama visited ElectraTherm, a
renewable energy company, at its Reno, Nevada headquarters on Thursday, April
21
for his third
"Shared Responsibility and Shared Prosperity" town hall. The company's patented "Green Machine"
generates emission-free power from low- to mid-temperature waste heat. This modular system with a capacity of 30-50 kWe can be quickly and easily installed and has
automated controls that reduce operations and maintenance costs. The generator was successfully tested using geothermal
brine produced at Florida Canyon Mine in Nevada from 2009-2010. A fast-growing small
business, ElectraTherm has hired 12 people since the beginning of
the year. The company currently has 44 employees, and expects to have 50 by
year's end. The Department of Energy's Geothermal
Technologies Program awarded a grant to ElectraTherm in 2010. Read more about this project. Read the company's press release on the visit.
