Idaho Power Co., Issues RFP for Geothermal Generation

January 12, 2006

Idaho Power Company has released a draft of a geothermal-powered electric generation Request for Proposal (RFP).  The utility identified a need for geothermal power in its 2004 Integrated Resource Plan, which promised an RFP for 100 megawatts (MW) of geothermal power generation during 2005.  Idaho Power Company anticipates acquiring the geothermal power by the end of 2008.

Respondents must offer a minimum of 30 MW of nameplate energy in their proposals.  The initial minimum term for the Power Purchase Agreements is 20 years, but 30-year terms will be considered.  Please note that the final RFP may be different from the draft RFP.
