Geothermal Technology Deployment and GeoPowering the West
Technology deployment addresses the factors — such as complex regulations that can stymie the transition from a prototype to a commercial product — affecting the deployment of geothermal systems. The Geothermal Technologies Program conducts outreach activities focused on key state and regional development issues. In addition, we will continue our analytical work on the performance and economics of geothermal systems.
GeoPowering the West (GPW) works with the U.S. geothermal industry, power companies, industrial and residential consumers, and federal, state, and local officials to provide technical and institutional support and limited, cost-shared funding for state-level activities. Geothermal energy represents a major economic opportunity for the American West, an area characterized by a steadily increasing population that requires reliable sources of heat and power.
