The U.S. Department of Energy Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) has issued a new funding opportunity announcement (FOA) for up to $40 million in research, development, and demonstration of combined heat and power (CHP) systems, based on annual appropriations. The FOA, titled "Combined Heat and Power Systems Technology Development and Demonstration" (PDF 421 KB) (Download Adobe Reader), is intended to accelerate the development and deployment of CHP technologies and systems to work toward a goal of increasing U.S. electricity generation capacity from CHP. DOE will provide up to 50% of these cost-shared awards. The deadline for this opportunity is July 21, 2009, 8:00 PM Eastern Time.


Specifically, this solicitation will seek applications for funding of research, development and demonstration of stationary CHP systems at three power levels:
