Webinar August 16: Go Local - Maximizing Your Local Renewable Resources with Fuel Cells

The U.S. Department of Energy's Fuel Cell Technologies Program, the Clean Energy States Alliance, and the Technology Transition Corp. will be hosting a webinar titled "Go Local - Maximizing Your Local Renewable Resources with Fuel Cells" as part of their Hydrogen Learning for Local Leaders Webinar Series. The webcast will be held on Tuesday, August 16, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. EDT. During the webinar, attendees will learn how municipalities are using solar, wind, biogas, and other local renewable energy resources in conjunction with fuel cells. Every area of the nation has natural resources that local leaders can use to trim costs, create jobs, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by leveraging the benefits of hydrogen and fuel cells.

The city of Tulare, California, has installed four 300 kilowatt (kW) biogas fuel cells, using biogas produced from the anaerobic digestion of industrial wastewater from cheese and ice cream plants. This 1.2 megawatt (MW) fuel cell project is one of the largest biogas fuel cell installations at a wastewater treatment plant in the United States.

"Farms to Fuel" is an innovative biomass project that will utilize poultry waste to produce clean biogas and electricity. Aside from generating clean power, this project supports local agriculture and creates a sustained source of green collar jobs.
This webinar series is designed to increase knowledge of fuel cell technologies and applications, identify best practices, and provide information and technical assistance to state policy leaders, state renewable energy programs, fuel cell organizations, and others involved in the development of effective hydrogen and fuel cell programs and policies.
