Metal Hydride Hydrogen Storage R&D
DOE's research on complex metal hydrides targets the development of advanced metal hydride materials including light-weight complex hydrides, destabilized binary hydrides, intermetallic hydrides, modified lithium amides, and other on-board, reversible hydrides. Engineering studies are also underway to understand the system-level issues and to facilitate the design of optimized packaging and interface systems for on-board transportation applications.
Research is carried out through DOE's Metal Hydride Center of Excellence and Independent Projects overseen by the Fuel Cell Technologies Office.
