Compressed/Liquid Hydrogen Tanks
Currently, DOE's physical hydrogen storage R&D focuses on the development of high-pressure (10,000 psi) composite tanks, cryo-compressed tanks, conformable tanks, and other advanced concepts for storing hydrogen as a compressed gas on-board vehicles. DOE is also investigating both compressed hydrogen and liquefied hydrogen storage systems for off-board storage at future hydrogen fueling stations.
The status of DOE's compressed hydrogen gas storage projects is detailed in the storage section of the Annual Progress Report.
