Industrial Technologies Program

Brochures

At the Industrial Technologies Program (ITP), we produce a wide range of publications, from technical reports to market assessments to case studies. Many of the publications cover specific industries and others explain the integrated ITP.

If you'd like to learn more about the Industrial Technologies Program, its activities, mission, goals, and the impact it has had on increasing energy and cost efficiencies, check out our brochures listed below.

Industrial Technologies Program Annual Report 2006 (PDF 2.8 MB)

ITP's annual report summarizes major program accomplishments. The report describes the opportunities for industry to improve efficiency and get involved with ITP activities. Research portfolios, highlights, and accomplishments from 2006 are also included.

Industrial Technologies Program Fact Sheet (PDF 300 KB)

The Industrial Technologies Program partners with U.S. industry to boost productivity and efficiency through innovative technology R&D and energy management practices. Our fact sheet provides an overview of Program strategies that are resulting in considerable energy and cost savings for industry.

ITP 2004 Annual Reports

ITP's annual reports summarize Fiscal Year 2004 activities for each ITP subprogram. The reports describe the current situation facing each industry within the subprograms, including their challenges and opportunities. The reports also provide information on research portfolios, highlights, and accomplishments from 2004, and how industrial organizations can get involved with ITP activities.

Impacts: Summary of Program Results

Over the past 28 years ITP has supported more than 600 separate research, development and demonstration (RD&D) projects that have produced over 190 technologies. In 2005, 101 of these successfully commercialized technologies resulted in industry saving 99 trillion Btu in energy costs. In addition to impressive energy savings, industry reaps even greater benefits from the improvements in productivity, reduced resource consumption, decreased emissions, and the enhanced product quality associated with these technological advances. Many ITP-supported projects have significantly expanded the public's knowledge of complex industrial processes and have laid the foundation for developing future energy-efficient technologies.

ITP tracks the amount of energy saved as well as the other benefits associated with successfully commercialized technologies that result from its research partnerships. Our Impacts report summarizes some of these benefits, including energy savings, waste reduction, increased productivity, lowered carbon dioxide and air pollutant emissions, and improved product quality. It also provides an overview of the activities of two ITP technical assistance programs: the Industrial Assessment Centers and BestPractices. In 2005, ITP programs saved 402 trillion Btu of energy at a cost savings of $4.44 billion. Over the entire history of ITP programs, the cumulative net energy saved has been about 5.13 quad, at a cost savings of $29.3 billion (in 2005 dollars).
