Energy Savings Assessments (ESAs)

Due to the large increase in energy prices in the aftermath of the 2005 hurricane season, DOE offered 200 Energy Savings Assessments through the Save Energy Now initiative to the largest U.S. industrial energy-consuming plants. The effort is continuing in 2007.

The purpose of Energy Savings Assessments is to identify immediate opportunities to save energy and money, by focusing key systems: steam, process heating, compressed air, fan, and pumping systems. These processes consume most of the energy used by U.S. industry. Fine-tuning of these systems may cost little but offers your company the potential to yield large savings. Quick successes with optimizing these systems can lead to significant long-term savings if the approach is spread throughout your company's plants. Read more about Energy Savings Assessments, and the Save Energy Now effort, on the Save Energy Now Web site.
