What does Technology Delivery offer to US Manufacturers?
Technology Delivery offers a variety of informational resources and tools to help manufacturers save energy and improve their bottom line. There is technical assistance available as well as opportunities to review and access emerging technologies. Technology Delivery also teams with industrial firms to conduct hands-on energy assessments and provides training opportunities in plant energy management practices.
How much energy does industry actually use?
The industrial sector consumes about 33% of all the energy used in the entire United States! In more practical terms, in a year's time, just one typical industrial plant uses the same amount of energy as 1,100 homes, and 1,900 cars.
If industry is using so much energy, what are we (the consumer) getting out of it?
Industry is responsible for producing almost everything around you! For example, the aluminum plant in your neighborhood helps you travel the world by supplying critical materials necessary for commercial airplanes. The chemical plant provides everyday products such as films, fibers, antifreezes, coolants, inks, adhesives and even diapers. And the metal casting plant down the road supplies a wide variety of parts for automobiles to home appliances to surgical equipment. Industry makes the things that keep America running.
