Industrial Facilities Score Card
The Industrial Facilities Score Card provides a snapshot of energy used by all the buildings at a plant. Use this tool to identify potential energy-saving measures based on annual energy use, as well as costs that can be considered for further investigation.
Inputs
For the Industrial Facilities Score Card, users will need to input the following:
- Total annual plant electricity and fuel/steam use and annual cost for each building
- Percentages of electricity and fuel/steam use and cost estimated to be used by building system types such as envelope, lighting, heating and cooling, and ventilation.
- Specific information about the existing four building system types.
Outputs
Based on input, the Industrial Facilities Score Card will:
- Provide estimates of potential electricity and fuel/steam savings and cost savings for appropriate energy efficiency improvements in the plant for each of the four main building system types.
BCHP Screening Tool
Use the Buildings Cooling, Heating, and Power Systems (BCHP) Screening Tool to assess the economic potential of these systems in commercial buildings. The tool features databases for HVAC equipment, electric generators, thermal storage systems, prototypical commercial buildings, and climate data. It also includes DOE2.1e to calculate heating, cooling, and electrical loads.
Inputs and Outputs
Inputs and outputs for the BCHP Screening Tool are the same as for IFSAT below.
Industrial Facilities Systems Assessment Tool (IFSAT) (Beta Version)
ITP invites you to test the beta version of a tool for analyzing energy use scenarios in industrial facilities where building energy is being consumed, such as enclosed and conditioned process buildings. This tool is similar to the BCHP tool above but includes building and equipment types that are applicable to manufacturing. Provide comments on this tool.
Inputs
For the IFSAT tool, users will need to input the following information for both the existing case and for any improvements to be analyzed:
- General building information
- Limited building space energy use (load) parameters
- Limited building energy system parameters
- Utility rate schedule information if desired
- Changes to systems and load parameters.
Outputs
Based on input, for each case or scenario entered, IFSAT will provide:
- Both simple annual and (optionally) extensive hourly outputs on building electricity and fuel/steam use and costs
- Breakout of electricity and fuel/steam use by system types
- Annual results that can be copied to spreadsheets or other tools
- Optional hourly results for import into other tools.
Release Notes
BCHP Screening Tool: You will need administrative privileges to install the BCHP software on your computer. Upon installation of this tool, three OCX files will be placed in the \windows\system32\ directory, creating the temporary directory c:\temp\drm to allow function of the program. This program does not work on a MAC.
IFSAT Tool: You must install the BCHP Screening Tool prior to installing and running the IFSAT tool.
