Steam System Assessment Tool Training — 2-hour Webcast
Now, in addition to full-day training sessions, ITP offers an introductory, convenient 2-hour Webcast on the use of the Steam System Assessment Tool suite. This session introduces the tools and presents the basics—and the benefits—of using them to target opportunities for energy savings in your plant. This training is for you if your plant is scheduled to receive a Save Energy Now energy assessment, if you are considering applying for one, or if you want a good start in using the tools.

Steam End User Training — 1-day workshop
This course covers the operation of typical steam systems and discusses methods of system efficiency improvement. The training is designed for plant personnel, such as energy managers, steam system supervisors, engineers, and equipment operators, who have steam system responsibilities in industrial and institutional plants. The course covers three key areas of potential system improvement:
- Steam Generation Efficiency
- Resource Utililization Effectiveness
- Steam Distribution System Losses
The course introduces the Steam System Scoping Tool (SSST) and the Steam System Assessment Tool (SSAT). The steam opportunity assessment tools developed by DOE's uses the Steam System Survey Guide (PDF 708 KB) (Download Adobe Reader) as a technical reference. The training also introduces the 3E Plus insulation appraisal software and a course example is presented that uses this software.

Steam System Specialist Qualification — 2½-day workshop
DOE has developed Steam System Specialist Qualification training for steam service providers who are interested in becoming proficient in using the BestPractices Steam tools and references, including:
- Steam System Scoping Tool (SSST)
- Steam System Assessment Tool (SSAT)
- Steam System Survey Guide (PDF 708 KB) (Download Adobe Reader)
- 3E Plus Insulation Appraisal Software
Specialists are recognized for their ability to perform a global investigation, identify, and quantify potential steam system improvement opportunities. To successfully complete the training course, participants must pass an exam demonstrating their understanding of steam system survey principles, implications and projects identified by using the steam software tools, and common evaluations required to perform insulation investigations.
