The establishment of the Chemical Industry Vision2020 Technology Partnership (Vision2020) represents an important milestone in the development of ITP Chemicals. For the first time, an industry organization represents the needs of the entire chemical industry, bridging diverse interests and creating a unified voice. Vision2020 provides the Chemicals IOF with a more focused industrial partnership effort and increased potential for industry-wide implementation of ITP projects. The organization plays an active role in shaping the Chemicals IOF portfolio by recommending technical areas for solicitations and providing technical evaluation of the R&D portfolio. Vision2020's priorities are addressed by the Chemicals IOF portfolio.

Vision2020 R&D Priorities are included in the Chemicals Portfolio. Vision2020 Priorities include Separations and Alternative fossil-based feedstocks and chemistries which support the Chemicals Priorities of Separations and Reactions; Energy-efficient process alternatives which support the Chemicals Priorities of Separations, Reactions and Enabling Technologies; New Materials which supports the Chemicals Priorities of Enabling Technologies; and Technology for Alternative Energy Production, Storage and Transmission which is leveraged through other EERE programs.

The Vision2020 Steering Committee is composed of leading chemical companies that have pledged their time and resources to the partnership. Each member company contributes $5,000 per year to cover organization operation costs. Chemical companies and organizations that have joined the Vision2020 Steering Committee include:
