Improving Industrial Burner Design with Computational Fluid Dynamics Tools: Progress, Needs, and R&D Priorities

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tools have the potential to significantly improve burner design. This workshop report summarizes CFD contributions to burner design today and identifies the R&D priorities. By 2020, CFD could help save 1 quadrillion Btu and $8.3 billion in operating costs each year (PDF 1.1 MB).
