Industrial Technologies Program – Industrial Materials for the Future

Industrial Materials for the Future (IMF) is a crosscutting activity of the Industrial Technologies Program (ITP). The mission of IMF is to lead a national effort to research, design, develop, engineer, and test new and improved materials for the Industries of the Future.

Through participation in ITP's Industries of the Future process, the materials portfolio has:

• Helped facilitate materials-related visions and roadmaps
• Developed a portfolio of innovative R&D
• Comprehensive  tools and resources
• Energy analysis to identify energy-saving opportunities
• Solicitations for cost-shared R&D for energy-efficient technologies.

Funded by ITP Materials, new boiler floor tube technology has been developed for improved production in nine pulp and paper mills.
