Industries of the Future Partnership

The Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) Industries of the Future partnership is a collaborative effort between the U.S. Department of Energy and industry. ITP provides cost-shared funding to selected R&D projects that address industry-defined priorities as well as national goals for energy and the environment.

Industries of the Future Process

The Industries of the Future process helps entire industries articulate their long-term goals and publish them in a unified vision for the future. To achieve that vision, industry leaders jointly define detailed R&D agendas known as roadmaps.

The roadmap guides the development of an R&D portfolio that yields useful results in the near-, mid-, and long-term.

U.S. metal casters recognize that energy efficiency offers a competitive edge in world markets. In 1996, the U.S. industry entered into partnership with ITP to work toward shared goals.

Since then, the Metal Casting Industry of the Future partnership has been feeding the technology pipeline so that U.S. metal casting producers will have the technologies they need to achieve their long-term economic, energy, and environmental goals.

Vision

Metal Casting Industry Vision
In 2001, leaders from the U.S. metal casting industry updated their vision for the future and developed A Vision for the U.S. Metal Casting Industry 2002 & Beyond. This document establishes the industry's vision for its future and specific industry goals for the next 20 years.
