About Petroleum Refining Industry of the Future
The Industries of the Future partnership between the Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) and the petroleum refining industry helped to advance the energy efficiency and productivity of refining processes. ITP has now decided to step back and let the industry, which includes many large companies capable of carrying out R&D (internally and in private partnerships), define its own technology pathways. ITP funding has been redirected to areas that are less inclined to attract private investment without federal leadership. ITP continues to foster improved energy efficiency in refining by disseminating publications, tools, and other resources to promote energy efficiency and best practices.
