Other Partnerships

The State IOF offices have been instrumental in promoting energy efficiency in refineries and generating dialogue between federal agencies, state governments, industry, and other organizations. In 2001, DOE joined the State of Utah, the American Petroleum Institute, and several companies from the refining, aluminum, and mining industries, in co-hosting the Utah Showcase to highlight emerging refining technologies and practices. DOE also partnered with the State of Texas and companies in the chemical, refining, and energy industries, to co-host the Texas Technology Showcase 2003. Both events were heavily attended by members of the refining industry, supporting technology companies, and other organizations, and demonstrated that energy-efficient technologies and practices can go hand-in-hand with productivity and profitability.

Through the California State IOF initiative, the California Energy Commission PIER Program has developed a petroleum refining roadmap (PDF 1.4 MB) to identify energy issues and priorities unique to the refining industry in California and create a plan for future R&D that could help California refineries implement energy efficient technologies Download Adobe Reader.
