Tutorial: Energy Savings Opportunities - Step 8 of 9

Overview

The Energy Savings Opportunities screen is divided into two tabs - Savings Opportunities and General Energy Management Questions.

1. Savings Opportunities
The purpose of the Savings Opportunities tab is for you to characterize the energy savings potential for each of the major systems in your plant. This is done by placing each system in to one of three categories as described below:

  1. No system assessment completed / Don't know - an energy system assessment has never been completed for this system or you are not sure if an assessment has ever been completed.
  2. System assessment completed but little or no implementation completed - some time in the recent past you have completed a system energy assessment for the selected system. However you implemented very few of the recommendations or you never implemented any.
  3. System assessment completed and substantial implementation completed - in the recent past you have completed a system energy assessment for the selected system and you have implement many, if not all of the recommendations. You believe this system to be very energy efficient.

By placing each system in one of the above three categories Quick PEP can make estimates of potential energy savings percentages based on industry standards. You must make a selection for each system before you can complete this last step and view your results report. To make a selection for a particular system just click the appropriate radio button as shown below.

Score Cards

Certain energy use systems have score cards that can be used to provide a more objective analysis of the condition of a particular system. A score card is a questionnaire that asks more detailed questions about each system to better decide which category the system belongs in. Quick PEP will use the score card answers that you provide to determine which category the system should be in. Please note that each score card can take between 20 and 60 minutes to complete depending on how much information needs to be collected.

2. General Energy Management Questions
The second tab in step 8 is the General Energy Mangagement Questions screen. The General Energy Management questions are some basic questions about energy management policies at your plant. The answers to these questions help Quick PEP provide some general plant energy management recommendations.
