Midwest Exchange Will Connect Industry with Financial and Technical Resources

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) will host the Midwest Industrial Energy Efficiency Exchange, September 9-10, 2009, in Detroit, Michigan, in partnership with the American Public Power Association, Cummins, Focus on Energy, and the National Association of State Energy Officials.
The Exchange will be the third in a series of DOE-sponsored regional meetings to address industrial energy efficiency improvement, and will bring together industrial manufacturers from the 12-state region. Participants will hear remarks from U.S. Secretary of Energy Dr. Steven Chu (tentatively), Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, and ITP Program Manager Douglas Kaempf.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in various panels and discussions, including:
- Industry Leader Roundtable: Industry leaders will discuss challenges and needs for energy efficiency
- Technical and Financial Assistance Panels: Various technical and financial assistance options available to help improve process and system efficiency in industrial manufacturing facilities will be featured
- Working Lunch: Matt Brown, of the Midwestern Governors Association (MGA), will discuss MGA’s upcoming energy plan for the region
- Project Successes: Energy efficiency projects that have been successfully implemented thanks to various partnerships will be highlighted
- Business Exchange: Resource providers will meet with industrial manufacturers to collaborate on how they can help them implement current energy efficiency projects.
