Northwest Region Commits to Save Energy Now
On February 17, 2009, DOE and the Northwest Food Processors Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) announcing an industry-wide target of reducing energy intensity 25% in 10 years (PDF 1.4 MB). Download Adobe Reader. The MOU was also signed by Bonneville Power Administration, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and Idaho National Laboratory. These organizations, along with the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance and other regional groups, will work together to deliver advanced, safe, and clean energy technologies in the Northwest. The Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) works cooperatively with manufacturers,trade associations, states, utilities, non-profits, universities, and other groups to aid industry in reducing energy intensity 25% in 10 years. Additional Information
The effort to reduce industrial energy intensity 25% in 10 years is a national goal that was first outlined in the Energy Policy Act (EPAct) of 2005, available on the Library of Congress Web site.
