Bioenergy

Second only to hydropower in total U.S. renewable energy production, bioenergy now meets three percent of the nation's energy needs. The larger Bioenergy category includes biomass, which covers a wide variety of power generation techniques, all sharing the common characteristic of using renewably available organic plant material, such as crop waste or wood residue, to generate power. Bioenergy also covers ethanol, biodiesel, and industrial process technologies, such as gasification. This section contains resources relevant to developers of bioenergy technologies.
