Bioenergy

Second only to hydropower in total U.S. renewable energy production, bioenergy now meets three percent of the nation's energy needs. The larger Bioenergy category includes biomass, which covers a wide variety of power generation techniques, all sharing the common characteristic of using renewably available organic plant material, such as crop waste or wood residue, to generate power.
