DOE has awarded $377 million to 46 new Energy Frontier Research Centers (EFRCs), including $277 million in Recovery Act funding. Global Clean Energy Investment Nearly Doubles in Second Quarter
Global clean energy investments reached $24.3 billion in the second quarter of 2009, up 83% relative to the first quarter, with investors putting money into renewable energy projects and stock offerings, according to New Energy Finance. United States Joins the International Renewable Energy Agency
The United States and 21 other countries joined the new International Renewable Energy Agency on June 29, bringing its total membership to 136 nations. The interim headquarters of the new agency will be in Masdar City, a clean energy district under development in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. More

Labor Department Offers $500 Million for Clean Energy Job Training
The U.S. Department of Labor has released five solicitations for grants that will improve and expand the training opportunities for people seeking work in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy. The application due dates for the grants run from August through October. More
