From Invention to Innovation (PDF 627 KB): This handbook is designed to guide inventors through the commercialization process—from concept to engineering prototype to production to market penetration. This process requires inventors to answer questions about the market, competition, business structure, and legal and regulatory requirements. The lessons learned of over 400 inventors have been incorporated into this volume.
Inventor Assistance Source Directory (PDF 906 KB): This directory can be used to locate organizations that provide assistance to inventors and entrepreneurs. It may also help assistance providers locate others who may supplement services.
The Licensing Decision (PDF 15.7 MB): This document is designed to help small businesses and independent inventors better understand intellectual property licensing. It provides straightforward, clear descriptions of the major issues facing inventors and small firms including making decisions to license for business reasons, finding a licensee, and negotiating a license.
Commercial Progress and Impacts of Inventions and Innovations (PDF 152 KB): This report, which was prepared by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, presents the survey results from the 1997 Inventions and Innovation evaluation questionnaire. It documents performance metrics for grant-receiving inventions including sales data, employment impact, and energy savings.
