Steering Committee
The AMP is guided by a Steering Committee, which operates within the framework of PCAST and is comprised of leading experts from industry and academia. The AMP Steering Committee engages in extensive consultation with stakeholders across the country to identify opportunities for investments in advanced manufacturing that have the potential to transform U.S. industry. On the basis of those consultations, it provides advice to the Federal government with regard to advanced manufacturing technology development, infrastructure and shared facilities, policy, education, and workforce development. It also recommends collaborative approaches through which the public and private sectors can together help the Nation realize opportunities in advanced manufacturing.
The AMP Steering Committee seeks public input in its deliberations. It conducted a series of four meetings across the country to gather public insights and suggestions. Over 1000 people participated in these meetings. Meeting reports will be posted soon, and video webcasts of the meetings can be accessed through the AMP events page. The AMP Steering Committee also invites interested parties to provide their views through the AMP website.
The Steering Committee is co-chaired by Andrew Liveris, President, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of the Dow Chemical Company, and Susan Hockfield, President of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Chad Mirkin of Northwestern University, and a member of PCAST, is an ex-officio member.
