National Data Center Energy Efficiency Information Program
DOE and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have initiated a joint national data center energy efficiency information program. The program coordinates a wide variety of activities from the Industrial Technologies Program's Save Energy Now initiative, the DOE Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP), and the EPA ENERGY STAR® program. This includes providing information, tools, and resources to owners and operators of data centers to assist in their efforts to reduce energy consumption in their buildings.

Memorandum of Understanding with The Green Grid
DOE and The Green Grid signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on September 18, 2007, to accelerate adoption of energy-efficient technologies and energy management practices. The DOE-Green Grid MOU intends to focus on assisting data center operators and facilities with initiating and implementing an energy management program and adopting clean energy and efficient technologies.
The Green Grid is a non-profit consortium of information technology (IT) companies and associations focused on improving energy efficiency in data centers through research, standards development, published studies, and continuing education.
DOE is working with the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) to develop data center awareness training and training materials. Watch our events calendar for upcoming opportunities.
Find publications on topics such as thermal conditions for IT equipment, liquid cooling options, energy efficiency, and environmental guidelines for datacom equipment on the ASHRAE Web site.
