ITP Launches Southeast Industrial Energy Efficiency Initiative
June 18, 2008
On June 5, 2008, the U.S Department of Energy’s (DOE) Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) sponsored the Southeast Industrial Energy Efficiency Summit at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Attendees included industry officials from manufacturing sectors, representatives from state energy offices, and utility executives from the Southeast region. DOE and laboratory officials have formed a partnership with companies in the region to reduce energy intensity in the Southeast by leveraging resources and maintaining open conversations with one another about challenges unique to the area.
“This meeting is a convening of the right people and the right ideas at the right time,” said Assistant Secretary Alexander Karsner. “I am so grateful for your exemplary commitment to improving efficiency in the fastest growing region in the country.”
The Southeast Industrial Energy Efficiency Summit is the first in a series of planned partnership meetings to address the changing energy needs of the United States.
