Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composite Manufacturing Workshop
January 13, 2014
UPDATE (Jan. 7): Registration has closed due to capacity limits.
The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) will host a Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Composite Manufacturing Workshop in Arlington, VA on Monday January 13, 2014. Low cost, lightweight, high strength and stiffness composite materials have been identified as a key cross-cutting technology for energy efficient transportation, efficient power generation and renewable power production.1 Fiber reinforced polymer composites can be used in vehicles, industrial equipment, wind turbines, compressed gas storage, buildings and infrastructure, and many other applications. Through the workshop AMO seeks to foster an exchange of information among industry, academia, research laboratories, government agencies, and other interested parties on technical issues and manufacturing challenges related to achieving low cost FRP Composites.
The workshop will include presentations by government personnel as well as facilitated breakout sessions to gather input from participants. AMO intends to discuss the comments received as a result of two recent Requests for Information (RFI) on this topic. An advance copy of the comments received from the first RFI, Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composite Manufacturing (DE FOA-0000980) released on August 26, 2013 can be found here. The second RFI which closes Tuesday, January 7, 2014 Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composite Manufacturing – Part 2 (DE-FOA-0001056) can be found here.
A draft agenda is provided on the registration website.
