DOE Issues Energy Efficiency and Carbon Footprint R&D Solicitation

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) is accepting applications for cost-shared research and development of transformational industrial processes and equipment that will reduce the U.S. manufacturing industry’s energy intensity and carbon footprint.  

Emphasis will be on new processes and technologies that can be commercialized in the next five to seven years and as such preference will be given to technologies that are in the Concept Development or Technology Development and Verification stages. Proposed R&D should focus on technologies in one of the following areas:

The closing date for applications is May 7, 2008. Selections will be made at the end of September 2008, when ITP will choose approximately five to 10 applications to award an estimated total program funding of $35 million.
