OIT's States Team Initiates Contest for Program Participants

October 26, 2000

The Office of Industrial Technologies (OIT) States Team has taken a unique approach toward increasing the awareness for February's Expo. They have devised a challenging contest that will enable industry partners to not only become more familiar with the States Industries of the Future (IOF) program but also provide an outlet for State IOF information to become more accessible.

The contest requires each candidate to either develop a new homepage or enhance an existing homepage listing the criteria for a State IOF program and process. In order to be eligible for the contest, candidates' states must have already initiated a State IOF. Each entry will be judged on creativity, content and class. The creativity category represents how well the homepage utilizes graphics and clever navigational techniques. The content must discuss the importance of the States IOF to the candidate's respective state. The content must also identify specific goals of the States IOF, a status report as well as an announcement of events or upcoming activities scheduled for the respective state. The class category will be judged on how user-friendly the homepage is, as well as the overall appeal of the homepage.

Contest participants will have until December 15, 2000, to submit their entries. The winner will be announced on January 12, 2001. For a prize, the lucky winner will be offered an Expo Silver-level sponsorship including free booth space with two free admissions to Expo in Washington, DC, on February 19-22, 2001. The two runners-up will also be recognized at Expo.
