Tennessee Signs MOU with DOE

Tennessee Governor Don Sundquist and DOE Deputy Assistant Secretary Denise Swink signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on April 18 in Nashville, TN. The event was attended by representatives from state and federal government, industry, academia, associations, and national laboratories. The MOU signifies a commitment by the State of Tennessee to DOE Industries of the Future strategy.

ur participation in the Industries of the Future program enhances Tennessee commitment to environmental stewardship, energy and process efficiency, and effectiveness in our important manufacturing sector,Sundquist said. he IOF program addresses the energy needs of Tennessee industries and builds partnerships that will improve efficiency and their bottom line.nbsp;

Alcoa, Incorporated became the first industry signatory on the state MOU through its signing of an Allied Partnership Memorandum of Understanding. Randy Overbey, president of Alcoa, Incorporated energy division, and Swink signed the partnership, which represents a shared commitment among the public and private sectors to improve energy efficiency in manufacturing processes through the development and adoption of new technology and the use of best management practices.
