DOE Deploys Energy Saving Team to California Fertilizer Plant
November 11, 2005
DOE deployed an Industrial Energy Saving Expert Team on November 11th to the Simplot fertilizer plant in Lathrop, California. The team is the first sent to an industrial facility as part the national "Easy Ways to Save Energy" campaign, launched by DOE on October 3rd. The campaign includes deploying teams to the top 200 energy-intensive manufacturing facilities across the country for free energy assessments, primarily focusing on steam and process heating systems. The Simplot facility produces nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers, and it produces steam power on-site to run its production units. See the DOE press release and a fact sheet on the Simplot facility (PDF 406 KB), and to apply for a free assessment at your company's industrial facility, see the Save Energy Now Web page on the DOE Office of Industrial Technologies Web site.
