OIT Program Benefits Summarized

OIT's Best Practices Program recently kicked-off its Industrial Plant-Wide Energy Efficiency Opportunity Assessments at the Grace Davison - Curtis Bay Chemical Plant in Baltimore, MD. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Energy, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Constellation Energy Source and Grace Davison opened the kick-off meeting by outlining their goals for the coming year for the Grace Davison plant.

Grace Davison, a unit of W.R. Grace & Co., is one of the world's leading suppliers of catalysts and silica products, specialty construction chemicals and building materials, and container products. Grace Davison plays a vital role in creating and distributing products such as Crest toothpaste and Sherwin Williams paint. With annual sales of $1.5 billion, Grace Davison employs over 6,700 people and has operations in nearly 40 countries.

Best Practices Plant-Wide Energy Efficiency Opportunity Assessments encourage industry-government partnerships to increase plant-level energy efficiency and reduce emissions. DOE cost-shares plant-wide assessment with individual manufacturing organizations that lead to a comprehensive strategy of ready-to-implement recommendations to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions. By publicizing the results, DOE tries to encourage firms to consider using energy- and cost-saving approaches resulting from these assessments.
