OIT Times: Small Business to Receive $10 Million for New R&D Projects from OIT, BES
September 21, 2001
OIT and DOE's Office of Basic Energy Sciences (BES) will award 38 grants for chemical, petroleum refining, and agriculture R&D projects. Valued at more than $10 million, the projects are funded by Small Business Innovation Research and Technology Transfer grants. The awards consist of 24 Phase I and 14 Phase II R&D projects addressing catalysis, separations, materials, and sensors and controls.
OIT and BES collaboration evolved from the "Chemical Industry Vision 2020 Technology Partnership." The partnership helps federal agencies and private firms work together in developing energy efficient technologies. The partnership provides an industry-defined set of R&D priorities that help guide DOE programs and R&D proposal solicitations.
"Both the public and private sectors often overlook small business and its positive impact on U.S. and global technology development and commercialization," said OIT Program Manager Charles Russomanno. "OIT and BES collaboration with U.S. small businesses helps benefit industry and the nation through the eventual widespread use of energy-efficient technologies," he said.
