OIT's New Budget Reflects An Increase

    December 14, 2001

DOE's Office of Industrial Technologies (OIT) recently announced its budget appropriation for FY 2002. The budget totals more than $148.9 million, up $300,000 from FY 2001.

OIT's Industries of the Future (specific) will receive $72.6 million of the FY 2002 budget. These funds will primarily support 2002 R&D projects selected in the nine energy-intensive Industries of the Future: agriculture, aluminum, chemicals, forest products, glass, metal casting, mining, petroleum, and steel. The Industries of the Future (crosscutting technologies) will receive $60.9 million in FY 2002, an $800,000 decrease from last year.

The Office of Industrial Technologies works in partnership with the nine most energy-intensive industry groups to develop and deploy new technologies that will increase energy efficiency, environmental performance, and productivity.
