Second Workshop to Facilitate Chemical Industry R&D Collaboration
February 10, 2005
Vision2020 is helping the Council for Chemical Research (CCR) organize a U.S. chemical industry Workshop to Identify Research Collaborations on April 12-13, 2005, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This workshop, to be held following CCR's Annual Meeting, builds on the success of the first workshop in December 2004. Developing viable research partnerships is vital for maintaining leading edge R&D and economic competitiveness in the chemical industry today. Researchers and R&D managers from chemical companies, academia, government, and private industry are urged to attend and forge strategic research alliances. Research focus areas and funding opportunities will be described by program managers from the National Institutes of Health, General Medical Sciences; Department of Homeland Security; National Science Foundation; and the Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory, Office of Basic Energy Sciences, and Industrial Technologies Program (ITP). Participants will then present R&D project ideas, identify projects of interest, and hold informal discussions on common interests. Participants will have the opportunity to network and begin the process of building research collaborations.
