Aluminum Technology Breakthrough: Isothermal Melting in Small-Scale Plant
June 29, 2006
See a video about the revolutionary new Isothermal Melting technology developed with support from ITP for the aluminum industry. This technology uses conduction rather than gas heat for melting and offers many benefits to industry, including energy savings, improved product quality, less noise in the plant, and less pollution. The energy savings are estimated at 70%, and industry-wide, the technology could save an estimated 63 trillion Btus in energy and 340 billion dollars per year. With crucial DOE support, this breakthrough technology is now available to industry and will be commercialized.
