ITP Names New Technology Delivery Team Leader

DOE recently announced the selection of James Quinn as the new Technology Delivery Team Leader for ITP. Mr. Quinn has held a number of positions in the DOE Offices of Energy Efficiency, Fossil Energy, and Policy. He presently is a leader in ITP’s Save Energy Now campaign and manages ITP programs for industrial energy systems, software development and outreach activities. Mr. Quinn also leads ITP’s international activities. He is a member of the Asia-Pacific Partnership Steel Task Force, and is the U.S. delegate to the International Energy Agency implementing agreement on Industrial Energy-Related Technologies and Systems (IETS).

Mr. Quinn is committed to understanding the industrial market and needs of industrial customers. He seeks to assure that ITP provides high quality products and services for implementing energy-efficient technologies and practices which can substantially reduce the use of fossil energy and generation of carbon dioxide. He is a champion of the corporate energy management approach which provides users with the tools to implement state-of-the-art technologies, and a decision-making framework for utilizing next generation technologies as they become available. Mr. Quinn looks forward to working more closely with ITP’s customers and establishing U.S. and international networks of industrial users, suppliers, financiers and other stakeholders to accelerate the use of energy efficient technologies and practices.

Mr. Quinn has held a number of positions at DOE during the last 30 years. He was the Team Leader for Petroleum Refining and the States Industries of the Future program and directed a variety of planning and analysis activities for industrial programs. In addition, he headed the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’s Division of Planning and Evaluation; worked as a Senior Policy Analyst in DOE's Office of Policy; served as a program manager for advanced batteries and for higher temperature superconducting materials; and directed various strategic planning, modeling, and analysis activities for renewable energy, electric energy systems and fossil energy programs.

Mr. Quinn received a B.A. from Dartmouth College in Economics, and an M.S. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in Interdisciplinary Engineering and Public Policy.
