DOE Issues Notice of Intent for CHP, District Energy, and Industrial Energy Efficiency Projects

The U.S. Department of Energy has released a Notice of Intent for an upcoming solicitation for cost-shared combined heat and power (CHP), waste heat recovery, district energy, and industrial energy efficiency projects under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This funding oppportunity will be issued in April 2009. Be prepared to apply by completing the pre-registration process described in this article.
The purpose of this solicitation is to promote domestic CHP, waste heat recovery projects, and more efficient industrial processes, and encourage development of a skilled labor force for implementation. The solicitation will seek proposals that identify, design, and implement energy efficient technologies and systems for institutional entities, including institutions of higher education and public school districts, local government, and municipal utilities.
This solicitation will soon be available on Grants.gov and FedConnect. Applicants are strongly encouraged to register at these sites to receive notification of announcements. When the solicitation is announced, applications will only be received through Grants.gov. There are several one-time actions prospective applicants must complete prior to submitting an application through Grants.gov, including:
- Obtain a Dun and Bradstreet Data Universal Numbering System number
- Register with the Central Contractor Registry
- Register with Grants.gov.
