New Plant-Wide Assessment Request For Proposals

The U.S Department of Energy (DOE) Industrial Technologies Program has just announced a solicitation for plant-wide energy efficiency opportunity assessments. Industrial facilities can submit proposals for cost-shared funding to assess plant efficiency and identify opportunities for energy efficiency in their facilities.

DOE will fund up to $100, 000 for each award with a minimum of 50 percent non-federal cost-share. Through plant-wide assessments, DOE continues its partnership with energy-intensive industries to identify new assessment approaches and methodologies that will lead to substantial improvements in industrial energy efficiency, enhanced competitiveness, and reduced environmental impacts. Other plant assessments awarded to date have shown that companies can identify very significant reductions in annual energy costs.

The industrial site at which the assessment is to be conducted should fall within the following energy-intensive industries: agriculture, aluminum, cement, chemicals, food processing, forest products, glass, metal casting, mining, petroleum refining, and steel. Proposals from other energy-intensive industries will also be considered.

Proposals are due for this solicitation on May 29, 2003.
