The Office of Industrial Technologies Welcomes Dr. Mike Soboroff

Dr. Mike Soboroff has recently joined the OIT staff as Program Manager for Materials where he will be working side-by-side with Dr. Charles Sorrell. Dr. Soboroff will have responsibility for several continuous fiber ceramic composite projects as well as projects in thin films and membranes. In addition to his role as program manager, Dr. Soboroff is a member of the Industry of the Future's Petroleum Team.

Prior to working with OIT, Dr. Soboroff managed the Defense Production Act Washington Liaison Office, where he directed planning and project selection. He also ran the Secondary Resources Processing Group at the Bureau of Mines and was coordinator for the United States - Israel Desalting Program.

Dr. Soboroff earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry and mathematics from Augustana College. He continued his academic career at the University of Iowa where he earned both MS and PhD degrees in inorganic chemistry.

Although born and raised in the Midwest, Dr. Soboroff has been a citizen of Maryland since 1979. He has two children, Molly - 22 and Ian - 27.
