Talk On-line with an Energy Expert
April 30, 2002
Do you have observations about the efficiency of industrial systems,
questions about the research being done in partnership with the Office of
Industrial Technologies, or opinions about the innovative energy technologies
that are coming to market?
If so, wee started a new OIT Web site feature that will be of particular
interest to you. The OIT Forum now hosts energy experts, selected from academia
and industry, who are available to discuss topics related to industrial energy
efficiency. We invite you to post your questions to the Forum. Our energy
experts will respond to your queries on line. In addition, we invite you to add
to the discussion thread.
This week expert is Gilbert A. McCoy, PE. Gil is an energy expert at the
OIT Clearinghouse and the Washington State University Energy Program. For the
past several years, Gil focus has been on industrial energy, including motors,
steam, and compressed air systems. Gil teaches workshops and has written
dozens of publications, including Energy Management for Motor-Driven Systems and
the Energy Efficient Electric Motor Selection handbook. He is the designer of
MotorMaster+ software, is currently updating AirMaster+, and is developing a new
International Motor Selection and Savings Analysis software tool. He has
also worked with institutional energy systems, peak load management,
cogeneration assessments, agricultural energy conservation, and renewable
resource assessments.
Gil has a Bachelors degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University
of Washington and a Masters degree in Engineering from the University of
California at Berkeley.
Check out our new Forum and join the discussion with Gil.
