Wisconsin Signs MOU with OIT
November 9, 2001
Wisconsin Governor Scott McCallum and DOE Office of
Industrial Technologies (OIT) Deputy Assistant Secretary, Denise Swink, signed a
emorandum of Understanding(MOU) on October 24th in Waukesha,
WI. The MOU signifies a formal commitment between the State of
Wisconsin and DOE to participate in OIT State Industries of the
Future program.
Participants included:
nbsp;Brian Mitchell, Executive Director, Wisconsin Cast Metals
Association nbsp;Edward J. Wilusz, Director of Government Relations,
Wisconsin Paper Council nbsp;Thomas Zinnen, Education Specialist, Plant
Biotechnology; Energy Center of Wisconsin nbsp;Sandy Glatt, OIT States Team
Leader nbsp;Brian Olsen, DOE Chicago Regional Office
OIT mission is to support the development and
deployment of advanced energy efficiency, renewable energy, and pollution
prevention technologies for industrial application. OIT portfolio
addresses the needs of the nine most energy-intensive IOFs including
agriculture, aluminum, chemicals, forest products, glass, metal casting, mining, petroleum,
and steel.
OIT State Industries of the Future program helps
extend the resources and accomplishments of the national IOF strategy to a
larger and more comprehensive set of customers including local industry
(especially many smaller businesses and manufacturers who cannot participate at the national level), academia, and state
agencies.
