Successes

Over the past 30 years, the Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) has supported approximately 600 separate research, development, and demonstration (RD&D) projects that have produced more than 250 technologies. In 2009, 95 of these successfully commercialized technologies resulted in industry saving 53 trillion British thermal units (Btu) in energy savings. In addition to impressive energy savings, industry reaps even greater benefits from the productivity improvements, reduced resource consumption, decreased emissions, and enhancements to product quality associated with these technological advances. Many ITP-supported projects have significantly expanded basic knowledge about complex industrial processes and have laid the foundation for developing future energy-efficient technologies.

Energy Technology Solutions: Public-Private Partnerships Transforming Industry provides details on each ITP co-funded energy-efficient technology available in the marketplace today. It also presents details on emerging technologies and other resources to help industry save energy.

ITP tracks energy savings as well as other benefits associated with the successfully commercialized technologies resulting from its research partnerships. Our Impacts report summarizes some of these benefits including energy savings, waste reduction, increased productivity, lowered carbon dioxide and air pollutant emissions, and improved product quality. It also provides an overview of activities of two ITP technical assistance programs: the Industrial Assessment Centers and BestPractices.
