Demand-rate customers might be eligible to receive cash incentives and reduced energy bills for curtailing unnecessary load during certain peak demand periods. A cash payment of $0.60 per kWh is available for all energy reduced during load curtailment periods.

Motor Rebate Program
The utility offers energy efficient motor discounts and rebates. Rebates range from $15 per the purchase of a 1 hp engine to $620 for an engine with 400 to 500 hp.

Power Partner Thermostats
As part of a load control program, the utility will give customers a free programmable thermostat that the utility can power down for up to 10 minutes during high energy usage periods.

Small Business Energy Efficiency Rebate Program
This program allows qualified small to midsized commercial customers and non-profit organizations an extra 20% bonus on all the rebates offered through the Commercial Rebate Program, and up to 70% of the costs on energy efficient lighting systems.

Solar PV Rebate Program
Austin Energy's Solar Rebate Program offers a $0.14 per kWh incentive to eligible customers that install solar systems on facilities. For solar installations that use photovoltaic (PV) equipment manufactured in Austin, the rebate is $0.175 per kWh.

Solar Water Heating Rebate
A rebate of $1500 to $2000 is available for the purchase and installation of a solar water heater to its all-electric business customers. Additionally, there is a 30% tax credit of $750 to $1000.

Thermal Energy Storage Rebates
Companies that install Thermal Energy Storage (TES) to shift chilled water production for air conditioning to night hours can receive as much as $100,000 in rebates. Shifting 1-100 kWh provides a rebate of $300/kW; shifting 100-500 kWh provides $150/kW; and shifting 501 kWh provides $50/kW.

Rebates of $250 per direct kW are available for the purchase and installation of variable frequency drives. Rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Power Quality Monitoring
The utility board provides commercial and industrial customer with an engineering team to monitor and measure the power factor to determine the amount of power being wasted due to motors, welding arcs, fluorescent lights, etc.

Loans are available to commercial customers for the purchase of energy efficient appliances. Loans are set at an interest of 7%.

Green Plus PV Rebate
Bryan Texas Utilities offers rebates for customers implementing solar photovoltaic (PV) technology in homes and businesses. The rebate amount is $4.00 per watt for up to 3,000 watts, which will likely cover between 30% and 60% of the cost to install a PV system. The program caps the rebate at 80% of the cost of installation. Additionally, if in any month a solar energy system sends more power into the BTU grid than the business takes from the grid, the difference or net will result in a credit on the customer's electric bill.

BTU offers rebates to customers that install high-efficiency HVAC equipment. The rebates will be available on a first come, first served basis.

This program offers incentives for reduced energy use during peak energy periods. Participants can receive $175 per kW for energy reduced and $0.060 per kWh for energy saved. Once savings are verified, the program can provide up to 60% of the installed and inspected measures.

Commercial Efficiency Rebates - Oklahoma
To encourage customers to install high-efficiency natural gas equipment in their homes and businesses, CenterPoint Energy offers new construction and retrofit residential and commercial customers rebates on furnaces, water heating, or space heating systems. Commercial customers can also receive incentives up to $1,000 for efficient food service equipment and significant rebates for boilers and boiler components.

Custom Rebates
Commercial and industrial customers can offer the utility ideas for energy-saving process equipment, showing the associated energy savings and equipment costs, and the utility will determine if the project qualifies for a rebate.

Engineering Assistance
CenterPoint Energy offers engineering assistance to help alleviate the costs for designing and installing energy efficient process equipment and systems, as well as retrofitting entire central heating plants. Commercial and industrial customers can be reimbursed up to $5,000 for engineering fees assessed by consulting engineers. Customers may be eligible for an additional reimbursement up to $2,500 for installing qualifying natural gas equipment as a result of the technical recommendation.

Foodservice Equipment Rebates
In order to make installation of efficient natural gas equipment more affordable, the utility offers per unit rebates for the following types of equipment: booster water heaters, infrared upright broilers, infrared charbroilers, combination ovens, convection ovens, conveyor ovens, dishwashers, high-efficiency or infrared fryers, pasta cookers, rotating rack ovens, infrared rotisserie ovens, infrared salamander broilers, and steam equipment.

Water Heater Rebates
CenterPoint Energy offers rebates of $140 per each 100,000 British thermal unit (Btu) input for new or retrofit commercial natural gas water heaters. The equipment must have an 88% or greater condensing efficiency to qualify.

Energy Efficiency Program
City Public Service Board of San Antonio offers its commercial customers a number of HVAC, lighting, motor, kitchen, and solar rebates. CPS also has a load tracking tool in order to help customers identify demand peaks and implement better energy management practices.

Load Management Program
The Commercial Load Management Program is designed to incent commercial and industrial customers to curtail their load during peak hours. Program Sponsors that enroll in the Commercial Load Management Program sign a one-year agreement that allows Oncor to request them to curtail their load up to 5 times during that peak season. The program has met 2010 goals and will receive new applications for 2011.

Incentives offered to small commercial customers that implement energy-saving projects. The incentives can be used towards new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems; energy-efficient lighting; renewable energy projects; and building retrofits.

Solar PhotoVoltaic (PV) Program
The Solar PV Program is designed to help Oncor customers meet a portion of electric energy needs by providing incentives to help offset the initial cost of installing a solar photovoltaic system. The program is temporarily suspended but expected to return shortly.

Solar Water Heating
Incentives are available for solar water heating systems. The nonresidential incentive available to commercial, industrial, and governmental businesses with less than 250 kilowatts (kW) in energy demand will pay an incentive of $547.71/peak kW savings and $0.38/first year kWh savings for systems installed in existing buildings. An incentive of $511.20/peak kW savings and $0.35/first year kWh savings is available for systems installed during a building's construction.

The Legislature created three franchise tax credits for economic development. Food Service Equipment Program
The utility offers an incentive for the installation of high-efficiency natural gas cooking equipment, such as water heaters, booster heaters and other food service equipment. The rebate amounts vary, depending on equipment type.

The Conservation Program offers a $25 rebate to customers who have their furnace inspected and tuned-up by a licensed and certified HVAC technician.

On-Site Renewable Tax Incentive
Businesses are eligible for tax credits for qualified solar water heating and photovoltaic systems, and for certain solar lighting systems. Qualifying equipment will either use solar energy to generate electricity, to heat/cool or provide hot water to a structure, or will use solar energy to illuminate the inside of a building by means of fiber-optic distributed sunlight (tube systems and passive solar are not eligible). The credits are available for systems placed in service between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2016.

Small Ethanol Producer Tax Credit
A small ethanol producer that is registered with the Internal Revenue Service may be eligible for a tax incentive in the amount of $0.10 per gallon of ethanol that is: sold and used by the purchaser in the purchaser's trade or business to produce an ethanol fuel mixture; sold and used by the purchaser as a fuel in a trade or business; sold at retail for use as a motor vehicle fuel; used by the producer in a trade or business to produce an ethanol fuel mixture; or used by the producer as a fuel in a trade or business. A small producer is one that has, at all times during the tax year, not more than 60 million gallons of productive capacity of any type of alcohol. The incentive applies only to the first 15 million gallons of ethanol produced in a tax year and is allowed as a credit against the producer's income tax liability. Under current law, this incentive expires December 31, 2010.

Payments for Specified Energy Property in Lieu of Tax Credits
ARRA authorizes the Department of the Treasury to make payments to eligible persons that either place in service particular types of energy property in 2009 or 2010, or, under certain circumstances, begin construction on such property in 2009 or 2010. These payments are generally equal to 10 or 30 percent of the eligible cost basis of the property, depending on the type of property. Those that apply for these payments must forego tax credits that they could otherwise receive under sections 45 and 48 of the Internal Revenue Code. The types of energy property that are eligible for these payments include, among others, various renewable energy generation facilities, microturbines, and fuel cells.

Production Tax Credit (PTC)
Through the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Congress acted to provide a three-year extension of the PTC through December 31, 2012. Additionally, wind project developers can choose to receive a 30% investment tax credit (ITC) in place of the PTC for facilities placed in service in 2009 and 2010, and also for facilities placed in service before 2013 if construction begins before the end of 2010. The ITC then qualifies to be converted to a grant from the Department of Treasury. The Treasury Department must pay the grant within 60 days of an application being submitted.
