DOE to Partner with Manufacturers to Increase Energy Efficiency
June 12, 2007
Secretary Samuel W. Bodman today expanded DOE’s work to maximize energy efficiency by increasing cooperation among U.S. industry and energy efficiency experts, by establishing a working arrangement with the National Association of Manufacturers.
Specifically, DOE and NAM will participate in a variety of activities, which aim to assist manufacturing facilities to initiate and implement an energy management program; adopt clean, efficient technologies; and achieve continual energy efficiency and intensity reduction improvements. Through this partnership, DOE seeks to advance President Bush's Twenty in Ten Initiative, which promotes greater energy security through increased efficiency and diversification of energy sources.
The partnership supports DOE's Save Energy Now effort, which provides energy assessments at industrial plants, helping plants improve energy efficiency.
